Jujitsu Competition

if i am to get into mma is it good to start doing competition jujitsu and then transfer over?
i’ve been training for mma for a year now but i want to start competing asap. i’ve been wrestling and boxing but i want to compete, not in boxing matches. i figure if i start doing jujitsu and brazilian jujitsu and compete i’ll be more then ready to fight once i’m 18. jujitsu and mma are FUNDAMENTALLY the same thing, stand up and submissions. i think it would be great. but how effective would jujitsu be as a main fighting style in mma? not bjj, jujitsu. like japanese jujitsu.
I MEAN JUJITSU NOT BRAZILIAN JUJITSU THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. I DO NOT MEAN ONLY GRAPPLE FIGHTING. just because you guys watch ufc and look stuff up on wikipedia doesn’t mean you know anything at all. learn about some OTHER martial arts then muay thai and bjj. look up competition jujitsu on youtube and see what comes up. again NOT BRAZILIAN JUJITSU.
Absolutely – compete whenever you can in whatever discipline you can.
You may have trouble finding Japanese Jujitsu (JJJ) competitions depending where you are, so you may have to travel to find good competition, or you may have to compete under other rule sets.
I know that Hayastan Grappler’s Quest, and NAGA tournaments are grappling rules, but you could enter them to work on your throws, sweeps, locks, and takedowns against a resisting opponent. That’s only one aspect of JJJ but competition of any kind helps. You could also enter youth MMA comps to see what parts of JJJ work for you and what you need additional training on. You could even enter Judo competitions which are more common than JJJ. Or you could talk to your instructor to see if the school travels to competitions. If there are 3-4 a year close by it may be enough to keep you in shape.
