Seishinkan Aiki-Jujutsu?
I am thinking about doing Jujitsu and I have found this school http://www.seishinkan.info/jujutsu.html. How is this style compared to other styles of Jujitsu, is it effective in real life situations?
This style is derived from Daito-Ryu, which is the hard-style art that Aikido is based on. I have taken Daito-Ryu, and the style I took was very effective. (Think of Aikido mixed with a hard striking art like Isshin-Ryu.) As for traditional Jujutsu, it’s not going to be the same.
Aiki means “the harmonizing of ki”. Ki, the internal energy of all things, will be a big focus in this particular art. If you’re not into the spiritual side of martial arts, this might not be right for you.
My advice would be to go and actually speak with the sensei. Get a feel for his/her personal philosophies and teaching style. You might be happy with the style, but you will be much happier finding the proper sensei for your way of learning.
