Martial Arts Bowie
What is this movie? Martial arts/action/historical?
I saw this on cable between 1997-1999. It did NOT star Jet Li; he was not in the movie at all. The film was set in China during the early 1900′s. It opened with a battle between a group of heros and the Japanese occupiers. The heros were Chinese martial artists, bald except for one long braid of hair. They had large tattoos on the upper part of their chests, which indentified their group. They fought using short swords which resembled very large Bowie knives. They didn’t use guns…I think it was against their code of honor, or something like that. The Japanese, of course, fought with guns and katanas. There was a long, drawn out battle between the Japanese commanding officer and the main hero. As I recall, he died at the end of the movie.
I think the movie is “Once Upon a Time in China” and it did star Jet Li as the hero…

Bowie Knife Fights, Fighters and Fighting Techniques $20.47 In 1827, James Bowie carved his way into American history at the Sandbar Fight, and soon every fighting man of the South and West had to have a knife like his. The bowie knife could cut like a razor, chop like a cleaver, and stab like a sword, and many considered it deadlier than a pistol at close range. So great was the dread it inspired that by 1838 it was banned in several states-a ban that did… |

Jujitsu Techniques Japanese
Which technique would be best to pair with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Japanese Jujitsu?
Like, for BJJ, what would be best to combine it with? Capoeira? I was thinking of doing that. Capoeira looks like fun and a good work out.
But I also hear that Japanese JJ is better than Brazilian JJ for self defense. If I were to do Japanese JJ, which other martial art would be best to combine it with?

Martial Arts America

Do you think i should leave America to learn Martial Arts?
In my line of work martial arts and self defense is absolutly crucial, before i take this job i need to become incredible at martial arts. i feel as though in america, its mostly scrubs teaching for high prices who hold out on you, so you keep going im open minded n adventurous so i dont mind going to like japan for a year to learn from a master, I need to learn Ninjutsu preferably, or maybe go to israel to learn krav maga, what do you think
I say yes, learn abroad where martial arts isn’t about money or business. I spent 6 years training over seas in Korea and Japan, and I can tell it’s way different when your master lives where he teaches and classes are 3 to 4 hours a class 7 days a week. When he doesn’t hold back for fear of being sued, and doesn’t promote you early just to get new students and money in the door. Where every one in the class is like family and pushes each other to the brink. I haven’t experienced anything like that since.
