judo concepts
Is it possible for a judoka to enter a wrestling math and….?

Basically, if you trained in judo/jujutsu/BJJ, could you enter a wrestling tournament and be proficient in the matches.

Example:….A muy thai practitioner can enter a kickboxing tournament and legitimately compete. Does the same concept apply to wrestling and other grappling systems?

hello,

answer is “yes”. if you train for the appropriate rules set, you can certainly do well.

just train for wrestling the same way you would train for any other tournament.

learn which moves are illegal, and then practice accordingly.
remember to avoid exposing your back to the ground. this will naturally change your tactical approach, but is not as difficult as one might think. oh yeah, practice without a gi, since wrestlers don’t wear them.

ok. that last part was a joke. hopefully you get the idea though. you can go to usawrestling.com for a comprehensive set of rules and regulations. then, go for it!

if nothing else, training like this will make your jiujitsu/judo/sambo game better.

thanks

Is fifty pounds a month reasonable for Krav Maga lessons?

I have studied marshall arts at various stages in the past (TKD,BJJ and Judo) and found their prices to be pretty reasonable. I stopped going after my daughter was born and am now looking to get into Krav Maga. I found a really good high rated gym but their wanting £50 a month for four days training and it seems a little steep saying as I already pay a lot to my regular gym and support a family. SHould i look into more down market courses or can I expect this sort of ball park everywhere?
Superangryfish :I was very young when I trained in TKD and I got into Judo and BJJ at around 18 but have been interested in Krav Maga for a while. Mostly because (to my understanding, could well be wrong) its mostly about fast effective takedowns. Sadly I live on the East Coast and apart from half a dozen dingy boxing clubs all I could find were two Krav Maga tutors so my choices are limited

Why would someone from a BJJ and Judo background want to do Krap Maga ???

Have you actually researched it past the first page on google ie all the self promoting sites or guys wearing camo trousers that should be enough red flags for you.

I would try and find some honest reviews on it.

A lot of Krap Maga teachers in the UK do a 1 week or weekend course which qualifies them to teach it? HELLO!!!

It’s a money making mcdojo scheme. Don’t take my word for it look into it.

You are supposed to do all this rubbish first and then end up at BJJ or Judo not the other way around lol
