Kimura Masahiko Judo

Who won the fight between Hélio Gracie and Masahiko Kimura (1955 )?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masahiko_Kimura

It says that Kimura won when he broke Hélio’s arm and his brother threw in the towel.

Yet, the newspaper says Hélio won. I don’t understand. Who won ?

And for that matter, how did the Gracies make BJJ so popular if Kimura who practices JUDO, is the one who won.

Kimura won but, the newspaper admired his fighting sporit so they said he won.

BJJ is so popular because it is an efficient style that will enable most practioners to win a fight in relaticely little training time. Whereas Judo although just as good at higher levels takes longer to learn as far in a fight go. In one year of BJJ you will destroy anyone off the street but, in one year of Judo many people off the street can block your throws by staying stiff.

Has anyone else been taught this groin strike pain relief technique?

Many years ago when I was taking Judo, my instructor taught me what turned out to be a VERY effective technique to stop the pain of a groin strike. He told us to stand up straight whith the feet 1 foot apart and lean back slightly on the heels and jump 3 to 5 times, landing each time on the HEELS and the pain will be gone by the time you stop. It is a very awkward technique, but I was suprised to see how well it worked when we were in practice or sparring. My question is has anyone been taught this or some other effective technique for a groin strike? And of course assuming you have failed to stop a blow there in the first place.

I USED TO BE A GOALIE IN HOCKEY GAMES AND I FOUND THIS TO BE AN EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUE. LEANING BACK ON THE CROSS BAR WITH THE SHOULDER BLADES. i GUESS I SHOULD HAVE WORN A CUP

Other Real martial artist like Cung le in mma?

i think there are other real martial artists who really show their TMA background, like:
Lyoto machida:the real karate expert
Shogun:the muay thai/bjj phenom there is no other mma fighter who is really a phenom standing and on the ground(the technique who show in both arts are great)
A.Silva:a fighter who has trained in noumerous standing martial arts who really show during the fights(a beast)
karo parysian/yoshida:truly the definition of what judo really is all about
katsunori kikuno:his fights are really a kyoushin karate demostration!!!
what do you think of these of others fighters,i really want know your opinion!!!!!10 points to the better!!!!!!!;)
frank the tank you are an idiot everytime the same answer,go away you and your fucking brain!!!!

Without considering Wrestling and boxing a martial art because of the lack of philosophies and things like that, I’m going for…

Georges St-Pierre-Kyokushin Karate
Nate Marquardt-Gaidojutsu, BJJ
Vitor Belfort-BJJ, Karate (I think Shotokan, I’m not 100% sure)
Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou-Judo
Hector Lombard-Judo
Bas Rutten-Tae Kwon Do/Thai boxing (winning 14/15 Thai boxing matches)
Maurice Smith-Kickboxing
Kenny Florian-BJJ (He actually owns a gym in Boston)
Vitor Ribeiro-BJJ (one of the top BJJ practitioners)
Vinicius Magalhaes-BJJ (top BJJ player)
Semmy Schilt-Ashihara Karate
Peter Aerts-top Karate and Muay Thai expert
Ernesto Hoost-Muay Thai expert
Sam Greco-Kyokushin karate
Cyril Abidi-karate and Muay Thai

There are so many others that competed and have a long history of competition and that’s what I wanted to focus on most. Rashad Evans has a black belt in BJJ given to him by Rolles Gracie but I don’t consider it much because Evans never competed in BJJ matches so I won’t mention him. I also didn’t want to focus too much on the very well known guys in MMA hence no mention of Diego Sanchez, BJ Penn, Fabricio Werdum, Fedor, Arlovski, etc.

Not that I’m taking sides between you and Frank, If you don’t want him to answer your questions in the future just put him on your ignore list. There was this one guy on here that was a jerk. I didn’t like his rude responses so I blocked the guy. He won’t get two points from me again, bastard lol anyways, peace, dude!
