Black belt Certificates for sale on Ebay!!,What the hell…..?
I was just searching ebay to buy myself a black belt and this popps out “Original taekwondo/Karate black belts up for sale” for as low as 20$*I saw the pixes and it was original*, I was like What the hell, I earned mine through sheer hard work….!!, Is this a joke? What do you have to say about that?
Joke? Not at all. It’s a huge business. You can find driver, marriage, and fishing licenses for any particular state; social security cards, visas, passports, and other government documents; you can even find software that’ll build a really good facsimile of a licenses, etc (albeit, none of it legal).
But believe it or not, the folks who pay $20 are probably paying $20 too much for a fake certificate. There are legit certificate software applications out there that are free and which can let you design your own certificate. Some martial arts – like ITF taekwondo – do not have official certificate issuers, so schools have no choice but to issue their own. Even some schools who belong to WTF (who do issue certificates by way of Kukkiwon) do not even hand out bona fide certificates – it’s done through the school (and by the way – these schools in particular are frauds).
What’s worse, is that lay people don’t know the differences. Try awarding yourself a 5th degree black belt in a martial art style called “Sum Flung Dung Do” and see the oohs and aahs you get from your friends.
Sorry… I apologize… this is worse:
I have a certificate issued from Kukkiwon (I know it’s valid, because my name is verifyably on record). My 3rd dan certificate is detailed and contains a lot of background artwork. Across the middle of the certificate reads the repeating (upside-down) phrase “teakwondo”. In other words, it reads upside down “Teakwondo Teakwondo Teakwondo Teakwondo Teakwondo Teakwondo” across the middle of the certificate in fine printing. My certification is real, but the certificate is worse than a counterfeit! They’ve since corrected this, but I haven’t yet seen my 4th dan certificate yet.

Taekwondo Beginner Instructions
Why is the drop out rate so high in muay thai?
It seems like at every beginner class there is at least four brand new people over on the side, and maybe 1 in 20 decide to come back for a second lesson. The beginner class usually has 30 people in it. In fact I didn’t go for a month because of final exams and I came back and I only recognized three people. The advanced class isn’t too different, they stay for a couple months and then it’s a new batch. I’ve only been training there for two years and I’ve been there longer then almost any of the students.
Taekwondo wasn’t like this… I saw the same group of people (mostly) for five years. Muay Thai is hard but it isn’t that hard. Why is the drop out rate so high? It’s good quality instruction.
I trained in traditional (ITF) Taekwondo.
I also notice that during pads I go hard and do the combinations, and I look around and everybody is standing there talking and throwing one combo every 20 seconds.
Because most people enroll with a preconceived idea of what Muay Thai and it’s training is like, mostly from what they see in movies. So when they train in a decent gym that teaches them the right way and reality hits them making them realize it actually requires them to work hard and do repetitive drills of the same techniques over and over again day in and day out, they usually quit because it doesn’t fit with their fantasy of how they are going to train to become a bad*ss kickboxer like they see in the movies. The same thing usually happens in most traditional martial art classes like Karate for example. Not to diss TKD, but most TKD classes are the sports variety usually taught to children, so the classes are more fun and engaging compared to more traditional classes. If you’ve ever tried a traditional TKD class, the same thing would probably happen regarding the attendance rate. Don’t worry too much about it, just keep training, you don’t need to train with slackers, the less slackers in your class the better. You’re better off training with a few people who are just as dedicated as you, than training with a class full of slackers, as this would be mutually beneficial for all of you in the long run.
How to Tie Your TaeKwonDo Belt, A Beginners Guide
Taekwondo Name

What are the names of the 4 self defense moves for taekwondo (white belt)?
There’s the one where they grab your wrist with the same arm, the one where they grab your wrist with the opposite arm, the one where they grab your shoulders, and the one where they grab your wrists with both arms.
The philosophy I was taught for self-defense was very simple.
OODA
Observe target, orientate on target’s context, decide how to destroy target, destroy target.
Repeat until unnecessary
Very simple in the end. Almost as simple as Penetration, Rotation, and Injury.
