Karate Blades
how can I lose that last little bit of gut.?
I lift about 4 times a week, karate 3 times, and bike or rollar blade at least once a week. I’m pretty fit and read fitness mags religously but I still cant get that ripped look that I want. I have to much of a bulky look. I want to lose the fat and keep the muscle. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Running can help you burn calories, start a distance running program and you will become thinner, but don’t over do it.
You can also try to incorporate faster paced workouts at the gym, maybe circuit training where you do each of maybe 10 exercises back to back for one set, then rest. It helps to work your heart (cardio > weight loss) while working your muscles.

Self Defense Practice With BOB- Body Opponent Bag
The BOB- body opponent bag is ideal for self defense practice. The heavy bag is a free standing bag. It allows you to attack as if it is a real human being. You have the ability to go for accurate hits to specific areas of the body. This is not your typical heavy bag.
Normally a heavy bag will be long cylinder shaped bag. It may hang from the ceiling or stand on its own base. This base is usually sand filled to keep it in place. These bags have different coverings of leather, vinyl or canvas. It may have soft or hard fiber fill, or be filled with water or sand.
The water fill is easiest on you bones and joints while the others force them to toughen up some, as long as you don’t go too far too fast. You have your choice on the type of bag you use and they offer a great work out. They allow you to increase power, speed and endurance.
Unlike the bags that hang from the ceiling a free standing bag can be moved to wherever you like. At the end of the workout it is easy to put away or be pushed into a corner out of the way. Whether hanging or free standing, neither one gives the feel of hitting another person. Nor are you able to practice hitting a specific area.
The outer layer of the body opponent bag is made of plastisol. Its filling is made of urethane foam. These two materials allow it to come as close as possible to how it would feel to hit another person. It is a freestanding heavy bag that weighs 270 pounds when filled. The base is able to be filled with sand or water. The height is adjustable in six inch increments. It has two models and can get as tall as 78 inches.
This heavy bag is molded and shaped like a man. It has a head with molded ears, eyes, nose, mouth and chin. The rest is neck, shoulders and torso. The definition and feel allow for the practice of accuracy of each blow. You do not have to hold back he can take it over and over again.
There is also a model of the BOB- body opponent bag that has the area from the waist to upper thighs. With this model you can target the groin, hips, and kidney areas. The look on BOB’s face is full of menace, inspiring you to do your worst, or best depending on your point of view.

Punching Bobby Bully: Does it help?
Bobby is a bully. Yes it is true. But he is bully that will help your child. He’ll help your child in the martial arts and even taking out some frustration.
Bobby is a punching bag for kids. He is free standing and shaped like a smaller version of the Body Opponent Bag.
How can Bobby help with the Martial Arts?
By workout out with Bobby, your martial artist can practice hitting key areas. One self-defense technique we use involves striking the ribs. I am constantly telling the kids to go easy. With Bobby they can strike as hard as needed too.
Accuracy
Bobby helps the martial artist learn accuracy. This can be challenging for a young student. When they are practicing on Bobby, I can ask them to properly kick to the ribs, or just brush the nose.
No touch sparring is required by me, before I let students go full contact. If a student can demonstrate the techniques I ask on Bobby they are on their way to full contact sparring.
When I ask them to strike the nose with a jab and the ribs with a round kick, the placement and control is enhanced.
