looking for books on karate?

Karate-Do Kyohan by Gichin Funakoshi. This is an oldie and a goodie. Some will consider it too basic, but there are several details in it, that many martial artists overlook.

For example, the area where you are taught the different ways to make a fist. In one of the fists, you wrap all your fingers tight, but the finger tip of the index finger is loose. There were drastic improvements in my kumite after making this correction to my fist.

Funakoshi was the teacher of all the masters of modern Shotokan, Mas Oyama, and some of the original founders of Tae Kwon Do. If a martial artist is judged solely by his students, he is the greatest of all time.
